Tennis Nation is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and positive environment for all children and young people who participate in our programs. The safety and wellbeing of children is our highest priority.
1. Our Commitment to Child Safety
- We commit to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people who access any of our programs
- We commit to providing children and young people with positive and nurturing experiences
- We commit to listening to children and young people and empowering them by taking their views seriously
- We commit to taking action to ensure children and young people are protected from exploitation, abuse or harm
- We commit to supporting families and communities to promote children’s healthy development and wellbeing
2. Working With Children and Staff
All Tennis Nation coaches and staff working with children hold:
- A verified current Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance issued by the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian
- Tennis Nation coaches hold relevant coaching qualifications appropriate to their role
Tennis Nation verifies all Working With Children Check clearances before any person commences work with children at our facilities. This is a non-negotiable requirement.
3. Child Safe Behaviour Standards
All Tennis Nation staff, coaches, contractors and volunteers must:
- Treat children and young people with respect and value their ideas and opinions
- Act as positive role models in all conduct with children and young people
- Avoid any unnecessary physical contact with a child or young person
- Communicate honestly and openly with parents and carers about the wellbeing of their children
- Report any reasonable suspicion that a child or young person is at risk of significant harm to Tennis Nation management and the Child Protection Helpline on 132 111
- Contact NSW Police immediately if a child is at immediate risk — Triple Zero 000
All Tennis Nation staff, coaches, contractors and volunteers must not:
- Shame, humiliate, oppress, belittle or degrade children or young people
Engage in any activity with a child or young person that is likely to physically or emotionally harm them - Initiate unnecessary physical contact with a child or young person
- Be alone with a child or young person unnecessarily
- Develop a special relationship with a specific child for their own needs or show favouritism through gifts or inappropriate attention
- Arrange contact with children or young people outside of Tennis Nation programs
- Photograph or video a child or young person without the consent of the child and their parent or guardian
- Use inappropriate language in the presence of children
4. Safe Play Standards
- Heat Policy — if the temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius lessons will be cancelled for safety. A credit will be applied to your account
- Sun Safety — please ensure children have applied sunscreen before lessons and wear a hat at all times
- Appropriate footwear — non-marking sports shoes must be worn at all times on court
5. Child Safety Complaints
All staff, coaches and participants have a duty to report any suspicion that a child or young person is at risk of harm to Tennis Nation management immediately.

- All child safety reports are treated with the utmost seriousness and strict confidentiality
6. Photo and Video Policy
- Tennis Nation will always seek express permission before photographing or filming any participant
- For participants under 18 years of age written parental or guardian consent is required before any photography or video is taken
- Players and spectators are prohibited from photographing or filming children in our programs without the prior consent of the child’s parent or guardian
- Tennis Nation will never provide third parties with copies of photos of children without parental permission
